Mobility Matters Daily #93 - The plan that nearly changed London forever
Something for you whilst I take a break
Good morning friend.
First, I must apologise for my unforeseen absence last week. All of last week I spent writing a major funding bid for a client (for a railway upgrade in Yorkshire), and unfortunately it took up most of my waking hours. Perhaps a lesson in time management for me there.
This week, I am taking some leave. I plan to ride the Bure Valley Railway, as well as the regular railway between Norwich and Great Yarmouth, visiting the lovely county of Norfolk. Whilst dog walks and ice cream takes up my week, I thought I would share with you a few of my favourite transport-related videos every weekday. Normal service will be resumed next week.
What London could have looked like
I’m starting this week with an oldie from Jay Foreman. This video explains what the infamous London Ringways plan to create 4 orbital motorways through and around London. A plan that very nearly came off. I like this video because it shows the sheer scale of these plans, and does it will a brilliant mix of slapstick and dry British humour.
If you want to read more on the Ringways, the excellent roads.org.uk has a brilliant detailed analysis of them.
